A herbal nicotine patch is a skin patch that combines a nicotine source with plant ingredients. The patch itself works like any other: it sits on the skin and releases its contents slowly over the day.
Where the "herbal" part comes in
The word usually points to two things. First, the nicotine is drawn from a plant extract rather than listed as a bare chemical. Second, the formula includes botanicals alongside it.
In our patch that means natural tobacco extract (7 mg of nicotine per patch), plus resveratrol, liquorice root and clove.
What "herbal" does not mean
Herbal is a description of the ingredients, not a promise about results. A herbal nicotine patch still contains nicotine, and it should be treated with the same care as any nicotine product: keep it away from children and pets, and talk to a doctor first if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a medical condition.
How to judge one
Look for a full ingredient list and a stated nicotine amount per patch. If a brand calls its formula herbal but won't say what the herbs are, you have no way to know what you're wearing.
